How do I pick a fabric for my custom, made-to-order piece?

Choosing the right fabric shapes both the look and the longevity of your piece. Here's what to consider, the fabrics we offer, and how to see them in your own space.

What to consider

  • Durability — many of our fabrics are made to withstand daily use.

  • Stain resistance — performance fabrics repel spills and clean up easily.

  • Texture & tone — natural fabrics carry beautiful, organic variation in color and weave.

  • Aging gracefully — fabrics like linen soften and develop character over time.

The fabrics we offer

  • Linen — woven from natural flax fibers; refined yet relaxed, softening over time. Subtle natural variation is normal.

  • Superlinen — 100% flax with a water-based finish that resists water, oil, and dirt while keeping linen's natural look.

  • Performance Linen — a linen blend with a performance finish for added resistance to water, oil, and stains.

  • Crypton — highly resistant to stains, water, and wear, in textures from linen-like to soft chenille; great for busy households.

  • Woven — a range of textures and patterns crafted to combine elegance with durability.

  • Bouclé — looped yarns give a textured, nubby surface with a cozy feel.

  • Teddy Bear Bouclé — an ultra-soft, plush bouclé inspired by faux shearling.

  • Velvet — a soft, plush pile in finishes from performance velvet to rich mohair.

  • Performance Velvet — a smooth, consistent nap built for durability, resisting stains, water, and oil.

  • Mohair — a high-end wool with a silky hand, lustrous finish, and lasting durability.

  • Leather — full-grain, aniline-dyed with a soft wax finish that lets the hide's natural character show.

See it in your space — order a swatch

We highly recommend ordering swatches to experience the color, texture, and weight in your own lighting. Keep in mind that dye lots may vary slightly, and photography and screen settings affect how colors look online. Request swatches here: https://www.mcgeeandco.com/pages/request-swatches
