Denial Reasons
Applications may occasionally be denied. Primary reasons include:
Reselling Restrictions: The program is strictly for professionals incorporating McGee & Co. products into client projects. Applications from businesses that appear to focus on third-party reselling (e.g., selling inventory on online marketplaces) will be declined.
Ensure your application aligns with the program’s intended purpose to avoid unnecessary rejections.
Tax Exemption Info:
McGee & Co. is legally required to collect sales and/or use taxes on your purchases unless you provide valid, current exemption certificates for the states where your orders are shipped. To qualify for sales tax exemption, you must have a valid resale or tax-exemption certificate for the applicable jurisdiction. The certificate must match the business name and email associated with your McGee & Co. trade account.
For those residing outside of Utah, you’ll need to provide a Utah Exemption Certificate (form TC-721) if you wish to claim exemption on purchases shipped into the state. Limitations and Important Notes:
Taxes paid on orders placed before the exemption is approved cannot be refunded retroactively.
Ensure you are logged into the correct trade account when placing orders to ensure the exemption is applied. Once your documentation is approved, the tax exemption will be applied to your trade account. Future orders placed under the exempt account will automatically reflect the tax-exempt status at checkout. If applicable, invoices for pending orders can be reissued with taxes removed. To apply for sales tax exemption, follow these steps:
Prepare Your Documentation: Ensure you have a valid resale or tax-exemption certificate for the jurisdiction(s) where tax would apply.
Submit Your Certificate: Provide the completed certificate to the McGee & Co. Designer Trade team via email or the designated upload method.
Verification: The submitted documentation will be reviewed for accuracy and validity.
Incomplete applications or missing credentials will not be approved.
Common issues include incomplete documentation or appearing to engage in reselling activities, which conflicts with program guidelines. Always ensure that your application addresses these critical criteria.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I being charged sales tax even though I submitted my resale certificate? If you are still being charged sales tax, it may be because your documentation has not yet been approved or applied to your trade account. Ensure you have submitted the required forms and that they match the details on your account. Once approved, taxes will be automatically removed at checkout. Can I get a refund for taxes paid before my exemption was approved? No, sales tax exemption applies only to future orders. Taxes paid on previous orders cannot be refunded retroactively. How do I request a revised invoice with taxes removed? After your exemption is approved, you can request a revised invoice for pending orders, or it may be reissued automatically.
