Can I Add or Modify Items in My Order After It Has Been Placed?

Once an order has been placed with McGee & Co., the ability to add, modify, or remove items is restricted due to system limitations. Below, we explain the key policies and available alternatives for managing your order post-placement.

This includes changes to item specifications, such as color or size, which are also restricted once the order is placed.

Additionally, it is important to note that discount codes cannot be applied to an order once it has been placed.

The sign-up discount code expires 7 days after it is issued, so it must be used within this timeframe to remain valid.

This includes ensuring that the discount or promo code is entered in the designated field during checkout and verifying the discounted total before completing the payment.

Order Modification Policies

Discount Code Mechanics and Types

McGee & Co. offers various discount codes, including email and SMS sign-up discounts, to provide savings on your purchases. These codes must be applied at the time of purchase and cannot be added retroactively.

  • Adding Items: Items cannot be added to an existing order after it has been placed. This includes additional quantities or entirely new items.

  • Removing or Replacing Items: It is also not possible to remove or replace items after the order is confirmed, as modifications are not supported.

  • Adding Discount Codes: Discount codes cannot be retroactively applied to completed orders. Any discount promotion must be added during the checkout process. Ensure that the discount code is entered in the promo/discount field and the discounted total is confirmed before completing the payment.- Manual Discount Application: For the 15% email/SMS sign-up discount, McGee & Co. applies the discount manually on your order invoice. Provide the items you wish to purchase, and the team will create an invoice with the discount applied for you to complete.

  • Changing Item Specifications: Modifications to item specifications, such as color or size, are not allowed once the order is placed. If an incorrect specification is selected, the only option is to cancel the order and place a new one.

To adjust your order, the only option is to request a cancellation (if eligible). Once the order is canceled, you can place a new order with the desired items.

If you cancel an order to reorder the same item with different specifications, such as color, you can place the new order at the same price as the original purchase, provided the cancellation is approved.

If you missed applying a discount code, you may need to cancel the existing order (if eligible) and place a new order with the discount code applied.

After signing up for email and SMS notifications, your unique first-order discount code is automatically generated and sent to you via email and text. If you do not see it immediately, check your inbox and messages, as it may take a short time to arrive.

Note that cancellation is only possible if the order has not yet entered the packing or shipping process.

Adding Items Post-Placement

If you wish to purchase additional items after completing your order, a new, separate order must be placed. McGee & Co.'s system processes each order independently, so any new items have to be managed through a separate transaction.

Shipping Fees and Order Consolidation

Each order placed with McGee & Co. incurs its own shipping fees, as orders are handled individually. Combining items into one order is not permitted once an order has been placed, nor can shipping costs be combined between separate orders. These policies ensure efficient processing and timely delivery.

Workarounds: Cancellations and Reordering

This section also applies when you want to use a missed discount code for your order.

For example, if your order is already benefiting from a sitewide sale, additional discount codes may not be applicable. Additionally, first-time or initial-order coupons are typically single-use and cannot be reapplied to new or exchanged orders.

To acquire additional or adjusted items while adhering to the policies:

This applies whether you are adjusting items in your order or seeking to apply a discount code that was missed.

  1. Request Order Cancellation: Contact our Customer Experience Team to see if your order can still be cancelled (dependent on its processing status). Upon cancellation, simply place a new order that reflects your desired items.

  2. Place a New Order: For additional items, proceed with a new, separate order.

  1. Same-Price Guarantee: If you cancel and reorder the same item with different specifications, such as color, the new order can be placed at the same price as the original purchase, subject to cancellation approval.

Summary

While McGee & Co. strives to create a seamless shopping experience, orders cannot be adjusted once placed. For adding items, a new order must be submitted, and each transaction is processed individually with associated shipping fees. If your situation requires additional assistance, contacting support may offer solutions, such as free shipping approval, though these scenarios are not guaranteed.

Additionally, McGee & Co. offers a same-price guarantee for reordered items if the cancellation is approved, ensuring customers do not lose their original purchase price when correcting specifications.

Trade discounts cannot be refunded directly to the original payment method after an order is placed. A practical remedy is to cancel the order, issue a refund, and generate a new invoice with the trade discount applied. Additionally, exchanges of certain items, such as lighting, may incur restocking fees if returned unused, uninstalled, and in original packaging.

In addition, ensure any discount codes or promotions are applied during checkout, as these cannot be retroactively added after the purchase.

Be aware that sitewide sales may limit the applicability of additional discount codes, and shipping status may prevent cancellation once the process has begun.
