Understanding the Rug Return Process and Rug Refund Calculations at McGee & Co.
Returning a rug to McGee & Co. involves specific processes and policies, particularly concerning return eligibility and refund calculations. Below, you'll find a comprehensive guide to help you navigate the process smoothly.
1. Steps to Return a Rug
If you wish to return a rug, follow these steps to ensure a successful return:
Verify Eligibility: Ensure the rug is unused, uninstalled, and in its original packaging. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery receipt. Rugs larger than 6x9 must be returned via our freight returns process.
Access the Returns Portal: Visit McGee & Co.'s returns portal to initiate the return. You’ll need your order number, which can be found in your order history if you've signed into your account.
Create a Return Label: Through the portal, generate a prepaid FedEx return label and print it.
Prepare the Rug for Return: Properly package the rug to avoid damage during transit. McGee & Co. is not responsible for items damaged or lost due to inadequate packaging.
Ship the Rug: Attach the printed return label to the package and drop it off at the nearest FedEx or UPS location.
Packaging Guidance: For parcel items, ensure the rug is securely packaged in a box before shipping. Original packaging is not required. For freight items, coordinate with the carrier for packaging options, including carrier-provided wrapping services if needed.
Important Notes:
Sharetown pickup is not applicable for rugs.
Returns must be adequately packaged and sent with the appropriate label; postage due returns will be returned to the sender.
Only rugs up to 6x9 can be returned through our returns portal, Redo.
Rugs can be returned even if the original packaging is not available; however, they must be securely packaged to prevent damage during transit.
For freight returns, carriers can provide wrapping services for an additional charge, which will be included in the pickup quote.
2. Refund Calculation: How Your Refund is Determined
Refunds for returned rugs are processed as follows:
Base Refund Amount: Refunds are calculated on the original retail price, not the price paid after any discounts or sales. For example, if you purchased a rug at a discounted price, the refund calculation is based off of the original retail price.
Fees and Deductions: A 15% restocking fee is automatically deducted from the refund. Return shipping costs, including freight or standard carrier fees, are also deducted unless explicitly waived. Miscellaneous fees (if applicable) may also apply.
Waived Fees: In some cases, restocking or other fees may be waived. If applicable, McGee & Co. will confirm this during the refund process.
Freight Wrapping/Handling Charges: For freight returns, additional wrapping or handling charges may apply if the carrier provides packaging services. These charges will be included in the freight return quote.
Example of Refund Calculation:
Original retail price → minus 15% restocking fee → minus return shipping costs = final refund amount.
3. Additional Considerations for Returns and Refunds
Processing Times: After the rug is received, allow 3–5 business days for a quality review and refund processing. It may take an additional 5–7 business days for the refund to post to your account, depending on your financial institution.
Responsibility for Damage: McGee & Co. is not liable for rugs damaged in transit due to insufficient packaging. Damaged items are ineligible for refunds.
Refund Method: All refunds are issued to the original payment method. Shipping and handling fees are non-refundable unless the item was damaged, defective, or incorrectly shipped by McGee & Co.
FAQs
Q: Why was my refund amount lower than expected? A: Refund discrepancies often result from the deduction of applicable fees. Examples include:
A 15% restocking fee
Return shipping costs
Refunds being based on the original list price, not the discounted price
Q: How is the 15% restocking fee calculated? A: The restocking fee is equivalent to 15% of the item's retail price before discounts. For example, if a rug was purchased for $1,000, the fee would amount to $150.
By following the above guidelines and understanding McGee & Co.'s policies, you’ll be better equipped to handle rug returns and refund-related concerns efficiently.
